Share the Dignity
On any given night in Australia, 1 in 200 people are homeless. 44% are women. 27% are children under the age of 18. Over 44,000 homeless women go without sanitary products every month.
Having read a news article about the number of homeless women going without basic sanitary items, an amazing SEQ local, Rochelle Courtenay, decided the question was not “why is no one doing anything” but rather “what’s stopping me from doing something?”. Thus launched Share the Dignity, an Australian Women’s charity bringing dignity to homeless, at -risk and women experiencing domestic violence through distribution of sanitary items. Launching in 2015, over the last 3 years, they’ve been able to collect over 1.1 million sanity items from across Australia.
This August, we’re partnered with Share the Dignity with the aim of collecting donations of sanitary items to be donated to women in need. You will find a donation box outside Coles where you can donate any sanitary items to help a women in need.
